The 2021 Range Rover Evoque is a more attractive SUV than its rivals, who are all busy justifying their existence by offering impressive performance and large cargo capacities. The cabin of the Evoque is equally stylish and welcoming, at least for front-seat passengers. Those who are too slow to take the shotgun may feel claustrophobic in back. Although the turbocharged four-cylinder engine is sufficient power, rivals like the BMW X1 or the Volvo XC40 T5 have more power. Although the Evoque is not as agile as its competitors, its handling is still good. However, its high seating position gives it an SUV-like feel behind the wheel. This is something that we believe many buyers will appreciate.

What’s new for 2021?

The Evoque, like many other Land Rover models, will receive an infotainment upgrade for 2021. All Evoques come standard with the new Pivi Pro software interface. It is easier to use and has more modern features, such as over-the air update capability. The new Online Pack package includes a wireless charging pad for smartphones, a Wi Fi hotspot and Spotify integration. A new cabin filter system can be ordered as well as an optional rear collision sensor. The P300 engine, which produces 296 horsepower, has been discontinued. Instead, the P250 turbocharged four-cylinder makes 246 horsepower.

Engine, Transmission, & Performance

The Evoque’s turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine is 246-turbo and it comes standard with both a nine-speed auto and all-wheel drive. The Evoque ran a 7.1 second zero-to-60-mph time on our test track. Although the Land Rover is more lively than rivals like the BMW X1 or the Volvo XC40, it still runs at a competitive pace. The Evoque is a hatchback car that can be easily mistaken for the X1. It is substantial and comfortable. The seat height is appropriate for SUVs. However, it will not satisfy enthusiasts drivers as well as the BMW or Mercedes Benz GLA-class.

Fuel Economy and Real World MPG

According to the EPA, the Evoque should achieve 20 mpg in cities and 27 mpg highway. A P250 returned a disappointing 24 mpg in our 75-mph highway fuel efficiency test.

Interior, Comfort, & Cargo

The Evoque’s large exterior dimensions make it difficult to see the cabin space inside. It is also very small, especially for the rear seat. The Evoque’s rear seats are smaller than other SUVs, such as the X1 or the XC40. Despite this, the interior materials are very nice. You can order the Evoque with a cool textured-cloth upholstery. This covers the dashboard, doors, and seats. Leather is still available as a standard. Ambient interior lighting, dual-zone automatic climate control, 10-way adjustable power-adjustable seats and dual-zone automatic temperature control are some of the standard features. Although the cargo space behind the rear seat may not be as large as one would expect for an SUV, it was able to hold six suitcases during our testing, which is in line with the majority of the segment.

Connectivity and Infotainment
